Albino girl killed for body parts

This is disgusting....

A six-year-old albino girl in Burundi has been found dead with her head and limbs removed, in the latest killing linked to ritual medicine.

Albinos in the region have been targeted because of a belief peddled by witchdoctors that their body parts can be used for magic potions.

The girl, who was attacked on Sunday, was the sixth person with albinism to be killed in Burundi since September.

There have also been a number of attacks in neighbouring Tanzania.

The latest attack took place in Burundi's eastern province of Ruyigi.

The BBC's Prime Ndikumagenge in Burundi said the child and her family had only just returned to their family home.

Armed attackers broke into the family home and tied up the girl's parents before shooting her in the head, local officials say.

They had been among a group of about 50 people with albinism to have fled to a provincial centre because they feared for her safety.

The head of the Burundi Albinos' Association, Kasim Kazungu, says people with albinism had not suffered any discrimination until other Burundians heard about the lucrative trade in albino body parts in neighbouring Tanzania.

Last week, police in south-western Tanzania arrested a man who was attempting to sell his albino wife to Congolese traders.

Two mothers in western Tanzania were also attacked with machetes after gangs failed to find their albino children. (BBC News)

Couple attacked by dolphin

A leaping 9-foot, 400-pound dolphin hospitalized two boaters when it landed in their laps!

Norman Howard, 64, said he and his wife, Barbara, were in a 18-foot boat cruising around New Smyrna yesterday when the large dolphin jumped into their boat and continued to hit them with its tail.

Apparently the dolphin came out of nowhere… before they knew it, there was blood everywhere.

Norman was smacked in the face and ribs while his wife received a few lacerations to the face.

They were found after officers received 911 calls from witnesses. Barbara was still conscious when the U.S. Coast Guard reached the boat. They were both transported to Bert Fish Medical Center.

The dolphin was released back into the water. Barbara Howard remains hospitalized in stable condition.

FYI: The chance of a dolphin jumping into a boat is 1 in 3,000,000.

Hallelujah! President Obama!!

I was just emailed this by an 11 year old friend of Angelo.

HELL YES!! This has been such an emotional election, I was overwhelmed seeing so many in line today at the polls, and was moved to tears tonight when they announced the results. Someone I know told me yesterday he was bored with the election, all of the hoopla and wasn't voting because he was out of the country (didn't bother with an absentee ballot). I don't know how anyone could not get the importance of today. Anyhow, we have arrived at the 1st step in a long road ahead and my faith has been renewed and I feel like maybe I won't need to flee the country with Angelo because of a draft after all. Maybe the environment will have a chance, maybe the economic rut will start to see an upward curve in a year or so - there are so many maybe's now. At least that's something! That is hope, and for me that's what's this has all been about. Now let's keep the change coming.

Of course you voted today!!!

I'm not even going to ask you. I woke up this morning with a vision impairing migraine that completely knocked me on my ass. I've been in a horizontal position for most of the day but am feeling well enough to blog and will certainly be making my way down to the polling place in bit even if I have to crawl there.

Well, hope everyone had a happy Halloween! Angelo turned 12 years old on Halloween!! Too crazy, time really does fly.
